For Such A Time As This

After a long silence, hello again. Below, I shared a portion of a webinar from Heartbeat International.

In a fascinating new webinar sponsored by Heartbeat International and the Charlotte Lozier Institute, CLI adjunct scholar Dr. Elizabeth Johnson gave a fascinating presentation on induced abortion and the subsequent risk of pre-term birth. In her talk, Dr. Johnson describes the serious public health concerns associated with pre-term birth and discusses the growing body of research on the topic as it relates to both clinical practice and a woman’s informed consent.

Pre-term birth is one of the most significant challenges facing the field of obstetrics and a serious public health issue. Pre-term birth is associated with substantial problems for families including significant infant mortality and morbidity, parental stressors, and financial burdens.

In the past few years, an ever-increasing number of studies have demonstrated that elective abortions in the first and second trimester are associated with an increased risk of subsequent spontaneous pre-term birth. A 2012 study published in the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynacology, which looked at 26 years of birth data, showed that a single induced abortion increased a woman’s risk of having a premature baby by 37%.

I want to remind everyone, life is sacred.  I care as much about the women who abort as the babies killed. When the lives of our children are ended by abortion, their mothers risk physical and emotional damage as well.  This is scientific and psychological fact.  Not something you have to believe just because it’s written in my or someone else’s post.

I’m a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, and because of that, all my posts and concerns about abortion are directed towards our Creator’s thoughts according to scripture, and God’s great love for us. I cannot and will not separate my beliefs from Father God.

He designed each of us with a specific purpose which includes being born and living at a specific time, “for such a time as this”.  Esther 4:14 “For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (ESV)

In the bible’s book of Esther, we read about an evil plan to destroy the Jews by a man named Haman. Haman held great authority in King Xerxes’ court and by lying to the king about the Jewish people, Haman convinced him to destroy the Jews. The king agreed to Haman’s plan, not knowing his beautiful queen Esther was a Jew. Esther had kept her Jewish heritage a secret from her husband.

In the verse above, Esther’s cousin, Mordecai, reminded queen Esther that she needed to serve God, before man.  Esther decreed three days of fasting and prayer for all the Jewish people, herself, and her handmaidens.

Read the book of Esther.  She stood strong for her countrymen, putting God first, above her own life.

We were all born “for such a time as this”.  Everyone has a part to do in preserving life. Don’t let the lies of misinformed or purposely evil-intentioned people prevail in convincing you otherwise.  Seek the truth.  Ask God to reveal His truth about our lives.  He’ll answer you.

I was reminded to stand strong for life after re-reading a three-year old email from a family member who basically wrote me out of her life when I began to speak out about abortion in this blog.  I shed some fresh tears as I read it again, but in the end, the only effect it had was to remind me I did the right thing writing about the terrible truth of abortion for the mothers and the babies.

I hope this post causes you to think about life, all life, yours included.

You were born for such a time as this . . .

Our Growing Inhumanity and Callousness

I never cease to be amazed at how far society has fallen in their acceptance of what is morally wrong, or in my opinion, better stated as evil. This post contains some links to good examples of my thoughts contained here.  I hope you read them.

I follow a few pro-life websites, and there are times I’m barely able to finish their articles about abortion before I begin to weep and the need to pray completely overwhelms me. The Holy Spirit speaks to my spirit, and I start interceding in prayer for our country and other countries who sanction, or even order the killing of unborn babies by abortion. In some cases, infants born alive during abortion procedures are murdered by the doctor, or, medical care is withheld from these children until they die.  These babies are unceremoniously placed out of sight, left to die alone, without care or thought because they were supposed to succumb to the abortion procedure.

I do want to say, in some United States hospitals and also, in some abortion clinics, there are medical staff who struggle with the horrific practices I spoke of in the preceding paragraph. I’ve read more than a few articles about nurses whose hearts break because of abortion practices, yet they must follow their employer’s requirement which is to obey the law of our country that states a woman has a “right” to take the life of her unborn child. See this link: http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/this-is-so-hard.-oh-god-its-so-hard-nurses-tell-of-aborted-babies-born-aliv

More late-term abortions are taking place. These procedures need a woman to give birth. The result is, many more babies do not die from the lethal injections or chemical solutions meant to kill them.  According to the Journal of Medical Ethics, debates are now taking place about killing newborns if the woman chooses because the child would be a financial, physical or emotional burden to the mother OR the family. See the following link:http://jme.bmj.com/content/early/2012/03/01/medethics-2011-100411.full

In my past post entitled: When God Says-”Don’t Do That!”-It’s Because He Loves Us I talk about God in His wisdom knowing if He gives the human race an inch, we take ten miles, so to speak, and end up destroying ourselves and others. Yet, He gives us a chance to honor Him by making good, moral, loving choices like He desires for us.

I cannot fathom the reasoning of women who would actually give birth to an unwanted child and will NOT place it for adoption in a loving home, yet they follow through with abortion.  There is no excuse for this tragedy when so many women today are unable to have biological children.  Our culture has senselessly bought into the lie of satan that what we think is best for ourselves, far outweighs the lives of our own children.

Please, please give adoption serious consideration if you are pregnant and can’t keep your child.  Give life and love to your little one by allowing your baby to fulfill its God-given purpose for his or her life.  God will see your heart and take care of you, your child and the family who will love your baby as their own.  I know this for a fact.  I have two adopted children who are now grown with beautiful families of their own.. Don’t listen to the lies of our culture that increasingly speak in favor of death and destruction.

Remember this; when you abort your child, you take the lives of generations of people.

I will pray for you.  Feel free to contact me.  I love the two women who gave life to my children.  I will forever be thankful and grateful to God for their choice of life.

One Person Can Make A Difference

Last Saturday, I went to the movie Olympus Has Fallen.  I really enjoyed it for a number of reasons.  One being, the movie was about my country, the USA, and how we would respond to a terrorist attack on our nation’s capitol, Washington, D.C. and specifically against our President.  I understand it’s a movie, a Hollywood production in all its special effects glory.  But watching it made me realize, it could happen, perhaps in a different way or with a different country attacking, but it’s possible.

I don’t want to ruin the movie for anyone who want’s to see it and hasn’t, so I will simply say, it portrays the resilience and determination of the American people and our military’s willingness to fight for our beliefs as a country and to stand against evil, while revealing that our decisions through time for right or wrong can come back to camp on our doorstep.  The movie shows how one man made the difference for good in millions of lives, and what could have happened had he not determinedly moved forward with his beliefs and convictions that good will triumph.

Sometimes, I wonder if my thoughts and opinions stated in these posts are making a difference for good.  If I pay attention to the media and social networks, I feel like the world is spinning out of control and how can anyone change it.  That’s what we shouldn’t do, believe the media and social networks.

As a believer in Jesus Christ, my purpose is to keep my eyes and heart, (spirit) on Him.  Whenever I deviate from that, I end up walking in fear and anxiety. God’s word says:

every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them.   John 4:3-5  New International Version (NIV)

The media and social networks, for the most part, speak from the viewpoint of the world.  How can I see what God is doing and what He wants believers to do by listening to the news media?  I can’t, and neither can you.  To know what God desires from us is to know Him personally, intimately.  Actively seeking His face and asking Him to change us into His likeness on the inside, (our spirit) so that we may go about showing the people in the world around us His kingdom, His light and His love. When I spend time reading the bible, I see God wants us to love and care for each other.  That’s the reason I stand against abortion, the murder of the children He created out of His heart of love.

The world’s conception of faith, or what the media calls religion, is that it’s sentiment and tradition.  Many people believe that faith in God is powerless.  Religious tradition is just that, tradition, which of itself without Christ’s life breathed into it is dead and useless. Only when people understand the dynamic qualities of God and His awesome love for mankind can they begin to see how He moves in the hearts of men, women and children to change them on the inside, remove sin from their souls, and cleanse them with the blood of His son, Jesus Christ.

This cleansing brings new life to us, body, mind, will and emotions, and fills us with His Holy spirit.  We become a new person in Christ.  From that moment on, when He looks at us and hears our prayers, He sees us as redeemed from sin, which before separated us from Him.  Now, I can boldly go through prayer into His presence with my requests as His daughter, and priest, with all the rights of an heir to God’s kingdom through Jesus.  This is power.  This is love.  This is beautiful peace, healing, abundance and hope.  Hope in God as my father, not in the frail, sin-wrecked ways of the world and their solutions, culture, and economies.

When I keep my eyes on Christ, I remember He told me to write to you, to share His love and plan for each of us, which includes the lives of the unborn and taking a stand to end abortion.  No matter what anyone says or thinks about what I write, they must remember this: I speak of the goodness of God and His love for mankind, including babies, children and families.  What I have to share with you is of God.  It’s not Donna’s plan for babies, mothers and fathers, it’s God plan.

His love for you is staggeringly abundant. Each of us, helping one person at a time, loving God with all our heart and soul, doing His will on earth as it is in heaven is a very possible, achievable destiny for each of us.  Careers and riches don’t follow us into the next life.  Only what is done for God will last.  One day, we all will stand before him and give account of our lives and actions.

Jesus sees our hearts, our reasons why we live like we do.  What will our thoughts and actions say about us to Him on that day.

I ask God to bless those who read my posts.

Baby Boxes Save Lives And Bring Hope

Today our extended family celebrated the birth of a new baby!  We anxiously awaited her birth, and welcomed her into our lives.  At the same time, I await the arrival of my third grandchild and first granddaughter!  I can hardly believe it’s true.  So many years ago the thought of being a grandmother seemed like an impossible dream due to my infertility issues and miscarriages.  I wanted desperately to become a mother, and because two women gave life to their children and the gift of adoption, I have a daughter and a son and three grandkids.  I’m so blessed, but many mothers face insurmountable choices and often the consequences to the newborns are devastating.

I’ve been aware of different forms of “baby boxes, or hatches” for a long time, but today, I read an article about the resurgence of these boxes in numerous countries around the world.  The use of baby boxes are being implemented in European and Asian countries in an effort to save the lives of children from infanticide or abandonment and subsequent death. When an unwanted child is born and the mother is unable for cultural, religious, or emotional reasons to care for the child, and the babies birth would be a stigma placed on the woman for the remainder of her life, this safe form of anonymous abandonment is one way to save the child’s life who is then placed with an adoptive family.

Typically the boxes are at hospitals, and are an incubator with an outside door for the mother to place the baby inside, shut the door, which then signals the medical staff that a baby is inside and in need of attention.  The baby’s life is saved and protected.

The United Nations is promoting a ban on these boxes and wants the use of them stopped, stating they “violate the rights of the child”.

Infanticide is on the rise around the world.  Where are the rights of the child in that situation?  Any idea that saves the lives of children is a good idea.  Yes there are social, poverty and educational  issues to be addressed, and countries need to do this, but while waiting for these answers which will only be a small percentage of the problem solving, children are being abandoned and murdered.  These boxes are one way to encourage adoption and life for the children.

Adoption gives life and creates new families. Adoption gives hope for the future to desperate people waiting for a child to love and raise as their own.  Adoption is one way God answers these prayers for the birth mother, the baby and the adoptive family.

I know.  My children are adopted, and now our family is completing the circle with grandchildren.

God is so good.  Prayerfully consider adoption, or support people who are trying to save the lives of babies through pregnancy homes for mothers, or communities sponsoring baby boxes, and orphan care homes.  Save lives.  Love a child!

Courageous Birth Mothers-Women Who Love and Give Everything

Monday, May 28th is Memorial Day in the USA.  It’s a time to remember and celebrate the fallen and living veterans who courageously fought, died and live to ensure our country’s freedom.  Their sacrifice means we civilians have the opportunity to live our lives to the fullest, and are able to enjoy the freedoms that our Constitution provides.  Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, the freedom of speech and the right to worship as we wish are just a few of the liberties we have because of our veterans.  I want to thank and salute you.  I send up my prayers for you and your families.

I have numerous readers from other countries, and I want to thank you.  I mentioned Memorial Day not only for those of you in the states reading this blog, but to let the people from other countries know what we celebrate this weekend.  My readers from China, do not have many of the liberties we take for granted.  I think of the Chinese people often and pray for them.  The Chinese government restricts families to one child.  The horrific result of this law is the untold millions of babies, mostly girls, who have been aborted over the past decades.  My heart cries out before the Lord God to end the senseless slaughter of Chinese children because of a government’s hold on citizens who do not have the life and liberty that we do in the USA.  Never mind that when man steps in to control the birth of human life, we mess it up and mess ourselves up beyond all possible imagining.  The Chinese are now dealing with a population completely out of God’s balance with more males than females.  This is a problem that will not be easily fixed without further interference from man.

Women who give up their children for adoption are some of the most courageous women on the earth.  The decision to give their babies life and the chance at a better life and education that the birth mother is not able to give them, at this point in her life’s journey, is an act of great courage and sacrifice for the benefit of her child and the adoptive family.  I thank you and my heart salutes you.  I cannot imagine the agony of that choice, and the years of wondering how they are; are they happy, loved, cared for, what do they look like, all while trying to make a new life for yourself.  The God of all creation knows your sacrifice and has a special blessing for protecting the child He formed in your womb and the great love you showed your child by your “choice.”

I have two children because of two women’s great love and monumental sacrifice.  If I could hold each of you in my arms and bless you, I would.  So, instead, I say thank you to all of you from those of us who love your babies and raise them as our own.  We gave birth in the agony of our waiting hearts, counting on your courage, and we cannot say “thank you,” enough.

To me, you are as courageous as a veteran facing death under fire, and the protection you gave “our” child was the selflessness of a true mother.

I pray for all of you who have made, or are making, this choice for life as every mother everywhere in the world makes the choice for her children.

God knows who you are.

Holidays Heartaches Healing and Children

When we look past the commercialism, crazy schedules and overspending we impose on ourselves, the majority of us look forward to the Christmas season and have fond memories of family, friends and special moments.  But for many people, the holidays represent sadness, depression, family disputes and heartache, and for women longing for a child, the story of the birth of Christ is a reminder of what is missing in their lives. A baby.

During my years of infertility, walking through the stores at Christmas and seeing the toys and children’s clothing so prominently displayed only intensified my pain.  I longed to buy the little red dresses and shiny patent shoes, the footballs, the train sets, all the things parents walking beside me were piling into their carts, while sometimes complaining about it, then checking off their lists.  There were no items on my list for a child and another hole opened in my heart for what was not to be.  After a few years, I protected myself and avoided the children’s departments.  I headed straight for the sections that had gifts for the adults in my family and planned trips to stores that sold only groceries for the holiday celebration.

When I thought it couldn’t get worse, my sisters-in-law who were both younger than myself and married after me, had babies.  Now, I had to listen to my parents and my in-laws extol the sweetness and beauty of the two granddaughters who graced their lives.  The babies were both very precious, and I loved them, but neither was mine, and now, I couldn’t escape the children’s sections any longer.

Children and Christmas are made for each other.  After all, the story of Christmas is about the birth of Jesus, the son of God, His miraculous entry into the earth, His plan for the salvation of mankind.  He was and is the perfect gift.

I share this with you because it’s easy to get caught up in your pain and forget the purpose of Christ’s birth which is salvation.  The highly important gift of forgiveness is not the only thing available in the word save, as used in Luke 9:56. “For the Son of  Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them” In the original Greek the word save, is sozo, which means complete salvation.  It has everything we need, forgiveness of sin, healing of disease and deliverance from torment.  Jesus came to save our whole body, mind and spirit.  Jesus does every thing well.  He loves every part of us and wants us to live victoriously now, here on earth.  Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven.  There is no sickness, disease, torment or lack in heaven.

Children are a blessing from God.  He wants to give you a child.  He wants to heal your body; He wants deliver your mind and spirit from torment and release them to His salvation.  You can ask Him for that.  You can ask Him to forgive you if you’ve had an abortion and He will.  He loves each of us and to prove it, He sent Jesus, His only son, for the purpose of dying and becoming our sin, our disease and our torment. In my post, Baby Showers, I prayed a prayer for conceiving a child and for forgiveness.  Read the prayer, pray it and believe in Jesus who came to give us the gift of Himself and all the goodness attached to Him.

May the blessing of God and His full intentions for you come to pass in your lifetime through God’s strength and power of the Holy Spirit.

God Wants To Bless You

I sat in church today amidst sunshine spilling through stained glass windows and Christmas carols floating above the organ’s soothing tones. I’m certain the scene and sounds mirrored many such services taking place across America today during this Advent season.  The pastor spoke of the infilling of the Holy Spirit in our lives and how God gives us the Spirit to bring about the work of His Kingdom on the earth now.

I knew this from scripture and God has dealt with my walk in His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven for a while.  This blog is a part of His work in my life to help other women become more aware of how very much God loves them and their children.  His kingdom on earth. . .

The pastor spoke of blessing and being a blessing to others.  It’s one of God’s good principles of doing unto others.  In blessing others, we are blessed.  God healed me, gave me a family of my own and now I seek to be a blessing to those of you who want children and a family.  I want to help the women who are making hard choices about children, abortion, adoption and life.  I want to bless you.

The ushers passed out the communion elements, the bread and juice representing Jesus’ body and blood given as a gift to us for salvation, healing and blessing.  Everytime I partake of communion I receive the blessing of Christ into my body, my mind and my spirit.

I sat in the peace of the moment asking God to bless the elements, for the simple bread and juice received in faith to become inside me what He intended it’s purpose to be. I looked out across the congregation and the Holy Spirit spoke softly, like He usually does.  He said,”These are my people.  I love them as much as I do you.  I love the people who are not here as well, just like I do you.”  I answered, “Yes, Lord, I know that.”  He said, “I want to give you My heart for these people.  Will you receive it?”

I sat very still for a moment, a little stunned as a tear splashed on my hand.  What He asked of me was a big request. I’ve walked with God long enough to know I could not accept a gift of this magnitude unless He helped me.  “I will.” I answered out loud.  “If you will help me receive it.”

I felt His smile in my heart.

He told me, “Some people are here today because they want to be, some are here to please another, some are here because it’s expected, some are here because they’re desperate, and some are here because they don’t know where else to find me. I need My church to become Christ to those around you.”

He reinforced in me that what I was doing by reaching out to women across the world concerning His heart about babies and their lives and the lives of their mothers was His heart, and He blessed me with this affirmation.

The Lord Jesus wants to bless each of us.  Will you let Him?
